Cricket's original printer Danner Press commemorated Cricket's first anniversary in New York City in 1974 with an article in the July-August issue of The Danner Press. The article features images of Clifton Fadiman, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Marianne Carus, Blouke Carus, Lloyd Alexander, and a bug comic illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman.

The Danner Press reports that more than 200 prominent children's writers, editors, and illustrators attended the celebration, which was also covered by other news agencies, including the Wall Street JournalCricket's circulation was over 250,000, and the new British edition was expected reach an initial circulation of 150,000.
