Description
Archaeologists from the Center for Archaeological Investigations excavate a test unit at the Jackson County Poor Farm Cemetery in 2019. The excavation was conducted to verify the presence of burials identified during a prior geophysical survey of the site. Visible in the photograph from left to right are Kaleigh Best, Justin Shields, and Ryan Campbell documenting and carefully excavating the burial feature. The work confirmed the location of graves associated with the nineteenth- and early twentieth-century county poor farm.
