These are a collection of Japanese wood block prints around the end of the 19th century. The artists responsible for the prints in this collection are Tatsugoro Nagashima, Watanabe Nobukazu, Kobayashi Kiyochika, Utagawa Kokuimasa, Adachi Ginko, Mizuno Toshikata, and Kobayashi Toshimitsu.
Many of these prints are propaganda or war reports sent back home to encourage/inform support of the Japanese Imperial army. This collection is a part of The Open Court Publishing Records and was put together by the Special Collections Research Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Born in 1866, Amanda was the daughter of Shakespearean actor Ira Frederick Aldridge, who died in 1867. Amanda composed and published music in London under the pen name Montague Ring.
