Kobayashi Toshimitsu

Kobayashi Toshimitsu.JPG

Kobayashi Toshimitsu was active 1876 to around 1904. There is a lot of question remaining about this artist, as he went by a vast number of names during his printing career. It is also possible that a lot of his master's students all used the name Toshimitsu. However, the print in this collection, as well as a good number of prints of his, include the first name as well, which makes it more possible to identify this specific artist. Kobayashi Toshimitsu created a lot of war prints during the time of the Sino-Japanese war, but ended his career with prints depicting actors, and traditional/western society.
